The Ontario government has recently announced an investment of up to $95.5 million towards the construction of a new Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, which will serve the communities of Collingwood and South Georgian Bay. The new hospital will feature up to 132 new beds, including 98 inpatient beds and an additional 34 beds to meet the community’s future needs.

In addition to the increased bed capacity, the new hospital will also include enhanced infection prevention and control measures, as well as expanded access to key services such as intensive care, emergency, diagnostic imaging, and operating suites. This investment is in addition to the $15.5 million provided earlier for the project’s early planning stages.

The Ministry will now collaborate with the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital to finalize detailed planning and design for the new facility. A construction schedule will be confirmed once the planning is complete and the project is tendered and awarded.

This significant investment in healthcare infrastructure will not only benefit the residents of Collingwood and South Georgian Bay but also contribute to the overall improvement of healthcare services in the region. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in healthcare infrastructure.
