Ongoing training and development are part of every job, offering constant growth and skill-building potential.To help achieve our business plans, our client currently has an opportunity for a Department Manager, Construction Support, within our Major Component Replacement (MCR) division.This is a permanent, full-time position that offers competitive compensation, a world-class benefits program, and a pension package. The position is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario, along the sunny shores of Lake Huron.The Department Manager, Construction, will carry out the responsibilities across the following areas:Key Responsibilities
- Provide oversight, leadership and engagement in the design and safe delivery of the MCR construction program and projects
- Organizational planning and staff leadership
- Contribute to the development and growth of a Nuclear Safety Culture by communicating the Nuclear Safety message, setting an example for nuclear safety and demonstrating this commitment through words and actions
- Provide oversight over the policies, processes, and procedures that govern engineering and construction management, including engineering Engineering Change Control (ECC), constructability, construction methods, workface tolerances, contingency engineering, field engineering, Building Information Modeling (BIMs), Return to Service (RTS), Human Performance, Corrective Action Programs, commissioning, start-up, testing and closeout as required for the performance of MCR
- Direct and hold subordinate management accountable for delivery of their assigned missions and hold such accountability for the construction lifecycle from inception to closeout
- Offer expert counsel to colleagues and department managers in highly technical and complex engineering and construction theory, practices, and methodologies to include design of safety-critical systems such as in nuclear power and an understanding of integrating construction management systems, principles, and practices to support successful project execution
- Oversee the maintenance of compliance with Environmental and Health & Safety regulations and promote and uphold the Company’s mission of Safety first, our number one One Value
- Represent MCR in matters of construction efforts as required at meetings, briefings and conferences with officials of labour, federal, provincial, or local authority, including regulatory bodies
- Serve on or chair corporate governance boards as required
- Collaborate with the department managers to ensure engineering and construction efforts remain constantly aligned with and in support of the overall corporate strategy and business plan
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge and experience with corrective action processes.
- Knowledge of CSA N286-05 is an asset.
- Knowledge of CSA “Management Systems Requirements for Nuclear Power Plants is an asset.
- Knowledge of all relevant Environmental and Health & Safety legislation
- A team player who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a demanding work environment

Education and Experience
- A period of over 10 years, up to and including 12 years as a mid-level or higher manager in a construction-related function, is considered necessary to gain this experience. At least 5 years must be spent on complex design-build projects in a safety-critical environment, such as a nuclear-licensed site
- Demonstrable record of delivering engineering and construction services for major, high-value (100 million+) capital construction programs and projects within the expected scope, quality, schedule, and budget
- Highly developed communications, negotiation, conflict resolution, and leadership skills to include complex stakeholder interfaces (regulators, sponsors, users/owners, clients, local authorities, and public interfaces)
- university degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience in a related field
