The position of Construction Estimator / Procurement Specialist is broken into 2 distinct components outlined below:CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR
- Support Industrial Construction services division with preparation of RFP response documents, including pricing build ups for review
- Provide support for short term turn around quotation requirements for non-RFP proposal requirements
- Regular contact with vendors for pricing / quotations and lead time requirements
- Review technical drawing packages in order to prepare BOM requirements for potential projects (includes clarifications regarding technical details found in drawings which drive purchasing and field work requirements)
- Prepare, attend and contribute to project kick off meetings with internal teams, vendors and sub-contractors
- Attend site visits as part of bidding potential work and preparing quotations and proposals (including photographing, measurements, clarification questions on site with customer representatives / engineers)
PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST
- Responsible for the procurement process, including supplier relationships, price negotiation and collaboration with the Project Coordinator to create purchase orders
- Ensure that commitments and timelines to customers are consistently met
- Handling the procurement of products
- Negotiating supplier pricing
- Analyzing and evaluating supplier performance
- Creating reports based on quoted price VS actual material costs
- Developing and maintaining supplier relationships
- Coordinating with other departments
ADDITONAL SUPPORT (on an as needed basis):
- This role will require some overlap with some of the project coordinators, as it relates to coordination of schedules, submission of RFPs and communication follow up with vendors and sub-contractors. In these cases, you are to act as a KPC team member with the goal of getting the job done for the customer. This may take you outside the regular day to day.
- Broadly provide KPC support requirements if other KPC divisions require technical field or project support
- Coordinate receipt of all materials company wide for accuracy and deliverable requirements
Educational Requirements:
- Post secondary education in a procurement / estimating discipline
- 5-10 years electrical construction experience
Skills:
- Problem-solving, excellent communication skills, organizational skills, time management, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, results driven, foster teamwork, proactive, attention to detail, and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Construction Project experience an asset
Relationships:
- Working closely with the Project Managers and Field Supervisors, Health & Safety Officer, Administrative and Accounting staff on a daily basis
Working Conditions:
