Your Role on our Team: The Assistant Foundation Superintendent is responsible for supporting the Foundation Superintendent with the foundation building and pouring process for housing development projects while ensuring compliance with all standards and specifications.In this role, you will:

  • Assists in verifying that grading plans and building orders are the same in order to start the building process;
  • Coordinates schedules of the crew and dates of excavation to begin building;
  • Orders materials required for the foundation including windows, wells, Styrofoam, pressure treated lumber for each home;
  • Assists the survey crew to “stake and grade” each lot prior to excavation;
  • Coordinates the excavation process and ensures each lot is dug to specifications;
  • Coordinates soil engineers to test the lot soil and ensure it is suitable for building and free of contaminates
  • Works with Excavation company to adjust and fix soil when required;
  • Approves the soil for building once the inspection is complete;
  • Organizes the other trades, (electrician and plumber) to do pre-foundation work (underground);
  • Organizes installation of weeping tiles, framing and pouring of the foundation, porch, and garage on multiple lots;
  • Coordinates various inspections from the City of Toronto and soil inspections according to OBC
  • Coordinates and approves water proofing membrane on foundation;
  • Organizes and schedules the Excavation company to back fill each lot once foundation is secure;
  • Coordinates with other labourers to remove snow when required;
  • Works with the trades to ensure they adhere to Health and Safety Standards;
  • Other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested by management.

We would like you to have:

  • A High School Diploma is required. A College Diploma (i.e. construction technician or technologist) is an asset.
  • A minimum of one to three (1-3) years of relevant work experience in a construction environment.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Outlook
  • Knowledge of Adobe PDF and Citrix is an asset
  • Ability to read blueprint plans is required
