If you’re looking for a dynamic, flexible opportunity where you can watch your hands-on experiences come to life, we want to hear from you.About Our OpportunityUnder the general supervision of the Supervisor of Traffic Line Painting, the Centreline Operator-Painter performs any one or a combination of duties as assigned in the process of painting highway road lines in the Province of Nova Scotia, including but not limited to; setting up, maintaining and cleaning equipment; operating paint pump for loading material; operating paint equipment for the process of painting highway road; inspecting work completed for quality and conformance; and assisting with the maintenance and repairs of the truck.Qualifications and ExperienceGrade 12 completion and one (1) year of construction experience and training; or an acceptable equivalence of education and experience. Prior highway work experience and training in the use and maintenance of equipment and Traffic Control experience is required. Must have a strong customer service focus, a keen eye for attention, the ability to perform within a team, and be well versed in Department and Industry Occupational Health & Safety rules and regulations. The incumbent must be able to work on a busy highway with the travelling public nearby.A valid Class 3 driver’s license with Air Brake Endorsement is required. Training in Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Working in Confined Spaces, along with WHMIS, First Aid and CPR certification are assets. Previous experience as an Operator/Painter will also be considered an asset.This position requires an individual with good physical dexterity due to the lifting, carrying and continuous moving required. Working within a confined space on a highway requires constant concentration for safe work practices.All applicants who are selected for an interview will be asked to bring a copy of a current drivers abstract.EquivalencyAn equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered.
