Job description: Nikita Construction is seeking a Site Superintendent for its new projects with Sandman Hotel Groups in Ontario.As a Construction Site Superintendent, you will be responsible for leading on-site activities to ensure timely and within-budget completion of projects with high-quality standards. You will be in charge of building a site team and working collaboratively with other divisions, including procurement, operations, construction, and design, as well as enforcing best practices, monitoring project expenditures and maintaining a safe work environment. Your duties and responsibilities will include the following:Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities for the concrete high-rise project.
Hire, train, and assign employees, crew and subcontractors, providing coaching, counselling, and discipline if necessary to achieve high performance and quality.
Monitor and control employees, crew and subcontractors’ performance, communicate job expectations, evaluate job contributions and recommend compensation actions, adhering to policies and procedures.
Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections, addressing any concerns promptly.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including daily reports, site photos, and change orders.
Enforce best building practices, conducting daily inspections to maintain construction quality standards, resolving problems and implementing measures to improve efficiency.
Collaborate with the project team to find effective solutions to unforeseen problems.
Assist in the creation of construction schedules to meet project timelines, standards and budget parameters.
Provide regular progress reports to the project manager and other key stakeholders.
Work closely with the project manager to control costs and identify potential cost-saving measures.
Monitor project expenditures, identify labour, equipment, and materials variances, and implement corrective actions to meet the construction budget.
Prevent fines and interruptions by following standards and enforcing codes and regulations.
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
Support the growth and development of company culture and professionally represent the company.
Performs other duties as requiredRequirements:Minimum of 6 years of experience in similar roles leading a diverse team of 15-50 people of all trade disciplines
Proven experience as a Site Superintendent overseeing low-rise (6 stories) construction projects.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documentation.
Knowledge and expertise in concrete foundations and layout, wood framing, and all trade activities.
Familiarity with construction codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Understanding of all safety procedures, hazard recognition, and proactive risk mitigation to ensure health & safety standards.
Competence in project scheduling, cost estimation and budget management.
Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices in construction.
Ability to track record of successful project delivery, client satisfaction, and adherence to timelines and budgets.
Experience conducting and facilitating safety training programs.
Problem-solving ability and proficiency in creating cost-effective solutions.
Ability to work in various locations in Ontario, with Sudbury being the first locationPhysical Requirements:Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day.
Must be able to lift 50lbs and use proper lifting techniques for heavy items weighing more than 25 kilograms
