The Estimator will be responsible for full cycle (Estimate Plan to Basis) development of capital cost estimates supported by the Estimating Team and Manager. Ranging from concept to feasibility level studies you will lead the estimating effort working directly with all contributors to the estimate. Being a problem solver and bringing a pro-active work ethic to a dynamic team will enable you to meet challenges head-on and be successful in developing capital costs for mining projects.This opportunity will be to support the M&M business located in any of the major cities of Canada: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton.Your role within the team:
- Full cycle (Estimate Plan to Basis) capital cost development for all classes of estimates including Conceptual, Order of Magnitude, Prefeasibility, Feasibility and Definitive class estimates as outlined by AACE International
- Development of capital, sustaining capital, reclamation and/or closure estimates for surface scope mining projects including: Civil site development (earthworks, piling, on-site roads, buried utilities, services, etc.), Processing facilities (concentrating, mills and processing plants for minerals & metals, acid plants, fertilizers, etc.), Non-process support infrastructure (storage facilities, loading facilities, rail, overhead lines, substations, leach pads, tailings storage and management facilities, pipelines, jetty & port facilities, etc.)
- Act as the single estimating contact to ensure all contributors to the estimate including engineering, procurement, construction, owner, and any other internal/external parties provide input in a timely manner as per the Estimate Plan for the preparation of the estimate.
- Adopt, maintain, and contribute to AtkinsRéalis unit rate databases and benchmarks including development of unit rates from first principals and subsequent calibration against contractor data when received.
- Establish labor rates (union/open shop) and productivity factors for mining projects in greenfield, brownfield and operating plant environments.
- Field and non-field Indirect cost development including contractor indirect, temporary facilities & services, escalation, and contingency evaluations.
- Preparation of comprehensive Estimating Plans and Basis of Estimate documents.

The ideal candidate:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in developing capital cost estimates for mining projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in multi-disciplinary estimating, encompassing the development of direct, indirect, and provisional costs.
- Comprehensive experience in estimating equipment and bulk materials, coupled with the ability to develop labor rates tailored for mining projects.
- Proficiency in MS Office with advanced knowledge of MS Excel, including expertise in managing small to large datasets and swiftly interpreting detailed information for reporting, discussions, and presentations.
- Successful completion of a four-year engineering degree, college diploma, or equivalent technical program and/or training, complemented by hands-on experience in estimating mining projects.
