These surveys ensure that all state licensed and federally certified health care facilities meet the established state and/or federal requirements and patients and residents receive safe, quality health care. Field Operations staff also ensure the safety of residents in health care facilities when emergencies such as natural disasters occur.The Work You’ll Do:The primary function of this position is to provide a high level of professional expertise to a complex multi-program survey process. The survey of numerous kinds of health care facilities encompasses all aspects of the requirements for State licensure and Federal Certification. This position may be required to perform these duties as a team leader, team member, or individually as assigned. The position may also be assigned to a team coordinator other than the immediate supervisor, who will have technical guidance or control during the assignment only.This position may be required to successfully complete the Surveyor Minimum Qualification Test within the first 12 months of employment as required by section 1819(g)(2)(C)(ii) of the Social Security Act, as amended, and article IV(B) of the agreement pursuant to section 1864 of the Social Security Act.Conducts surveys of health care and residential facilities for State Licensure programs. These responsibilities encompass activities such as reviewing facility files prior to the visit and coordinating with team members concerning objectives of the visit when applicable and making detailed observations of the facility and resident/patient/clients during the visit and documenting findings. Ensures completion of all duties and responsibilities related to facility surveys form initial to final action including approval of corrective actions taken by health care facilities to rectify deficiencies cited. Performs follow-up visits to evaluate correction of deficiencies within mandated timeframes. Conducts complaint investigations to determine compliance with State regulations. Prepared applicable reports upon completion of visit within mandated timeframes.Responds to consumers, providers and the general public on inquiries received. Performs other administrative functions, including the review of different reports to ensure accuracy prior to the supervisor’s signature. Assists the supervisor in the development of technical standards and reports, procedure manuals, educational and technical material, and related professional information. Trains staff in methods of performing surveys and complaint investigations.
