Trades staff are an essential contributor to the safe and efficient functioning of the university.PositionReporting to the Construction Superintendent, and leads the journeyman carpenter is an inaugural part of the whole trades team. A carpenter employed at the University of Alberta provides carpentry, cabinetmaking and related construction services to various faculties, departments & facilities, while maintaining a professional standard of quality. This work may involve new construction, renovations or maintenance of existing facilities & equipment. A carpenter working at the University of Alberta, is responsible not only for his own safety, but also for the safety of other trades people, staff, students, and the general public. Carpenters must be constantly aware of the effect their work may have on others and the dangers & risks involved.DutiesDuties include, but are not limited to as follows:

  • Demolition of interior and exterior components of building envelope and room finishes.
  • Installation of mill-work and other interior finishes.
  • Knowledge and practice in framing with steel studs and drywall.
  • The ability to layout and install different styles of ceiling finishes including suspended ceilings.
  • Build and install concrete forms.

Minimum Qualifications

  • The minimum education required for a new person to fulfill the requirements of the job is Grade 12 High School and a Journeyman Trade Certificate in carpentry or cabinetmaking.
  • A Class 5 Drivers License is an asset.

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Office Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, coordinating office activities, and ensuring the efficient functioning of the office.

– Handle incoming calls and emails, redirecting them as necessary
