They will be responsible for strategically planning, coordinating and managing procurement team activities for the major projects team. The candidate will play a crucial role in maximizing the efficiency of major projects, mitigating risks and ensuring the highest standards of quality, delivery and sustainable performance in terms of schedule and cost. The candidate will also be responsible for internal customer relations, key performance indicators and associated service levels that contribute to the overall success of our projects.
The activities of the procurement group are essential to ensure the group’s major projects are completed and run smoothly.Responsibilities:

  • Develop the long-term strategic plan for the major projects procurement department
  • Make sure all NACAP and Glencore purchasing policies of are followed
  • Lead strategic negotiations with key suppliers and manage the evaluation and governance of performance indicators
  • Monitor team performance and, in collaboration with group managers, identify improvement mechanisms aimed at achieving excellence
  • Make sure best practices are implemented for project contract strategy, negotiation, contract management, purchasing, procurement, logistics (receiving and shipping) and inventory management.
  • Ensure company standards are applied in selecting suppliers and managing the contracts
  • Organize, participate in and conduct management reviews with relevant site members, teams, organizations, and stakeholders
  • Create and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Work with technical experts from the Corporate Copper Division
  • Collaborate closely with the NACAP procurement team from the Corporate Copper Division
  • Work with auditors and companies designated by the Corporate Division
  • Work closely with directors and managers to implement industry best practices
  • Participate in the division’s and company’s continuous improvement program
  • Implement a clear, effective and consistent communication structure
  • Stay informed of industry best practices, benchmarking against other companies as needed to support the implementation of improvement strategies

Experience and career path:

  • University degree in procurement, Microprogram in strategic sourcing or a related field
  • 15 years of experience in procurement and team management in an industrial environment
  • Experience with major projects and/or major construction projects
  • Interest in and comfortable with networking activities
  • Demonstrates high professional ethics
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and French.
  • Supply chain management professional designation or other relevant certification is an asset
