You’ll learn more about this during the recruitment process.JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the execution of all phases of the project life cycle for every assigned Marquee Event. Manages the entire project scope, from concept to operation, including but not limited to creative design, production, fabrication, technical integration and installation, costuming and makeup development, and operational requirements. Ensures compliance with Universal Orlando policies and Entertainment Creative Development goals and creative intent. Drives successful completion of all tasks and/or assignments through all aspects of the Project.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Production Manager is the Responsible Individual for ensuring the Project’s intent is successfully executed. As part of the Project’s leadership team, the Production Manager is responsible for partnering with the team to develop, review, and manage scopes, ensuring that the creative intent is developed within the Project’s parameters.
- Creates and maintains the production schedule to align with the overall Project milestones, goals, and strategies as outlined by the Producer. Monitors for changes or delays to the schedule. This includes the evaluation of Contractor’s schedule performance and schedule coordination with other groups and departments.
- Performs function of lead estimator for large scopes of work and generates project estimates for full project scope. Collaborates on project estimates, including estimate refinements prepared by the individual project estimators or outside estimating firms. Reviews continually evolving design documents and estimates to ensure the projects are tracking on budget. Creates “value engineering” (VE) components with the project team to mitigate cost overruns. Manages budget tracking, and reports status updates to Finance.
- Acts as the primary point of contact for all assigned projects, and interprets, communicates, and presents Project information to a variety of audiences throughout the Project process. Leads routine project meetings, including project roll-outs. Acts as the primary point of contact for all Project vendors.
- Develops and manages strategic sourcing and staffing plans to support project development and production efforts. Completes bidding & awarding Construction Documents and other work packages. This includes developing a bidders list and preparing a Request for Proposal (RFP). Negotiates with outside resources as necessary, while maintaining strong vendor relationships. Develops RFP cost breakdowns and works with the project team to establish bid alternatives. Provides post-bid cost analysis and award recommendation
- Performs administration of Construction and Design Contracts, providing scope clarification as necessary per Legal review. This includes the management of the submittal of Requests for Information (RFI) and the directive and change order process. Approves all vendor payments according to the completion of work and the contracted payment schedule.
- Ensures that staffing and resources are contracted and approved in accordance with approved project budgets and schedules. Makes employment decisions, including hiring, terminating and promotional recommendations. Evaluates subordinate staff on creative, technical, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ensures that Project’s Quality Standards consistently align with the Project’s creative intent. This includes regular walks through the production sites to monitor progress and developments to ensure that the work being accomplished is in accordance with the contract documents.
- Leads the execution of risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle. Monitors project trends and projects potential risks, implementing mitigation plans as appropriate.
- Manages and interfaces with appropriate internal and external resources through every phase of design, production, installation, rehearsal, operation, and close-out, ensuring the highest level of integration into the overall strategic plan for the Resort.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Associate degree is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of Production Management experience preferred.
- 1+ year of Production Management experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred.
