Additionally, McAsphalt provides comprehensive services and technology solutions, encompassing paving, testing, research and development, engineering, and consulting.Position SummaryThe Scale Operator is responsible for helping to maintain the day-to-day operation and administrative duties associated with operation of the scale. This position is responsible for operating the weigh scales, scale computer and software programs, data entry, and record keeping. This position is also required to screen and record incoming loads at the scale house, direct vehicles entering and leaving the facility.Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs operating sequences to receive and exit vehicles through incoming and outgoing scales
- Assists in checking all components of the weigh scale system to ascertain all are in working order
- Maintains a control environment in scale house to ensure proper operation of the computerized scale system
- Assists in performing key starting instructions on command printer as necessary
- Operates traffic control devices to allow vehicles to proceed to tipping area and exit from facility
- Issues receipts to vehicle driver and collects tickets
- Performs minor maintenance and repair work on scales
- Answers phone, records messages and provides routine information
- Uses computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments
- May perform incidental tasks, as needed
Required Qualifications
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Proficient in MS Office
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with weight scales is an asset.
- Strong Administrative and Organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with drivers and staff.
