Their primary focus is drafting, estimating, ordering materials, creating shop drawings, managing projects through production, and shipping products to site. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop layout, drawings, and designs that meet expectations and specifications
- Prepare detailed shop drawings and value engineering
- Confirming project changes and logging them
- Estimate steel projects and develop clear and detailed project scope for the customer.
- Maintain current customer relationships.
- Communicate with customers to set realistic deadlines for the completion of work.
- Understand plans and specifications to identify the types and grades of materials and processes required to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Verify job costing as needed.
- Prepare packages for shop floor production, order materials.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSDegree or Diploma in:
- Estimating/Drafting
- Construction Engineering Technology
- Construction Management
- Mechanical Engineering
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 3 years of experience with Autodesk Inventor 2016 or later, AutoCAD.
- Structural design experience
- Pipe fabrication experience an asset but must be willing to learn this part of the business.
- Must be able to estimate steel projects and develop clear and detailed project scope for the customer.
- 5+ years of steel fabrication knowledge.
- 5+ years’ experience estimating for miscellaneous steel fabrication
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSKnowledge and understanding of:
- Autodesk Inventor
- AutoCAD
- Estimation
- Structural Steel Drafting
- Production scheduling, planning, and execution
- Blue print reading
- Willing and able to travel to site from time-to-time in the GTA
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License
