- Assist the Construction Manager in developing project field schedules and sequencing of construction events.
- Coordinate efforts and liaison between Engineering & construction to ensure open communication and resolution of day-to-day issues.
- Ensure drafting, fabrication & construction align with project specifications and scope of supply, encouraging designs that are easier to construct.
- Develop Construction Contracting Strategy, prepare and issue requests for quotations from suppliers for field subcontracts & services.
- Evaluate quotations and provide purchase / subcontract recommendations to the Management Team.
- Monitor subcontractor’s terms, manpower loading, timing, quality control, approvals, etc.
- Conduct pre-award and project kick-off meetings with Subcontractors to review scope of supply and contract requirements.
- Assist the Construction Manager in appraising Subcontractor performance and ensuring proper close-out documents.
- Aid the Construction Manager and Project Scheduler / Planner in developing field manpower loading plans & scheduling.
- Provide administrative support from the main office to the field construction superintendent.
- Coordinate and monitor shop fabricated equipment & shipped loose material for the field construction group.
- Identify and coordinate requirements for field construction items to be shop fabricated.
- Coordinate with the Project Engineer and Ship Loose Technical Coordinators in developing and monitoring the project master ship loose document.
- Ensure materials and equipment required by the field are being shipped from the shop warehouse.
- Assist in obtaining information from the Engineering group for queries made by the on-site Construction Superintendent.
- Encourage innovation by the project team to improve cost, schedule, quality & safety.
- Assist the project team in reviewing shop equipment during assembly to maintain quality.
- Keep Construction Manager informed on controversial issues and job highlights.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a technical field or relevant field experience with JM trade qualification.
- 5+ years of estimating experience in EPCM or field construction in the oil & gas industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong command of the English language.
- Fluent in civil and mechanical blueprint reading (electrical experience is an asset).
- Exceptional time management skills and ability to work under tight timelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with contractual documents and Project Scheduling Programs.
- Experienced/Knowledgeable in civil, electrical & mechanical field construction.
- Organized and able to work independently and in a team.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects ranging from $1M – $100M.
