Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM’s Buildings + Places (B+P) Business Line is seeking an Operations Manager to lead our Advisory Services Practice.This position could be based out of any of the following AECOM B+P Canada offices: Burnaby, BC; Calgary, AB; Edmonton, AB; Kitchener, ON; Markham, ON; Mississauga, ON; Ottawa; Saskatoon, SK; Winnipeg, MB.Job Summary:The AECOM B+P Operations Manager for our Advisory Services Practice Group is the Operational Unit Leader responsible for the growth and successful performance of multidisciplinary professionals across several Canadian office locations offering services in: Strategic Planning and Change Management, Digital and ESG Consulting, Project and Program Management, Cost and Value Management, Risk Management and other diverse advisory services to a varied set of clients across multiple market sectors.Key responsibilities associated include the operational management and overall strategic direction of the practice group to ensure financial profitability; leading and driving a proactive culture focused on strategic business activities positioning the group for sustained and profitable growth; overseeing the practice’s offering of services and engaged in the effective management and delivery of projects within the group.This individual will provide strategic business development support, developing and maintaining contracts, in addition to oversight and direction to key sub-practice leaders; and will be involved in planning, developing and coordinating the overall success of the practice group.Major Responsibilities include:

  • Accountable for day-to-day operational business unit leadership and management for the practice group; including but not limited to such Key Performance Indicators as: Net Revenues, EBITA, Utilization, Project Margin, Overhead Expenditures; Backlog Growth; AR Collections
  • Provides input and executes the strategic plan to help grow and lead the Advisory Services Practice
  • Enables the growth of the business through a focus on clients, expansion of services and capability, commitment to delivering excellence and exceptional teams
  • In partnership with Strategy & Growth Leader, serves as the “face” of AECOM – leading and managing client relationship development within the practice to attract new clients and retain existing clients as required in the service offerings in support of sales and top-line growth
  • Leads with a strong focus on clients, a commitment to excellence and innovation, establishing a safe and healthy work environment, and the strong engagement of employees
  • Collaborates with other Operations Managers and Market Sector Leaders to support pursuits as well as sharing of resources as required
  • Supports the Area Business Unit Leader for teaming partnerships on major pursuits within office service area
  • Collaborate with other teams and areas of expertise locally and regionally to identify and implement best practices
  • Manages the effective management and delivery of projects within the practice
  • Provides leadership as required to key project personnel to meet client objectives on complex projects
  • Mentors, coaches and sponsors the next generation of talent across our business; leads and motivates staff to deliver optimal results and attract and develop people to strengthen teams in executing current and future projects

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture/Engineering (or related field)
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience directing multiple projects of various types and complexities, including two (2) years of leadership experience.
  • PMP certified

Preferred Requirements:

  • Advanced Degree a strong asset
  • Ability to lead and drive growth of the business
  • Strong business acumen, leadership and experience managing teams
  • Proven experience leading a team thorough all phases of a project
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and organizational skills
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Ability to multi-task combined with strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
