The successful candidate will operate withing a matrix structure reporting to the Managers and Senior Project Managers. The Project Manager administers a variety of services for the construction phase of SSE project, fostering a collaborative environment for seamless project execution. in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner for quality services.What will I be doing?
- Work seamlessly in a collaborative One Team environment with a project team comprised of both Metrolinx and non-Metrolinx employees. Foster a unified approach, leveraging the diverse skills and perspectives within the team for optimal project outcomes.
- Navigate and resolve complex project issues and risks, fostering effective conflict resolution and managing stakeholder expectations.
- Drive the efficient delivery of project elements from detailed design and contract document preparation to construction, contract management, and commissioning activities.
- Prepare reports and presentations to support management briefing updates on progress, status of project.
- Chair progress and ad hoc project meetings with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure contractors’ plans align with contract documents, overseeing compliance with provisions and maintaining a focus on safety, quality, environmental compliance, cost, and schedule performance.
- Forge effective communication with agencies, utility companies, and external stakeholders, defining requirements and developing project implementation plans.
- Manage site reviews and audits, ensuring contractors and consultants adhere to contracts and maintain a safe working environment.
- Works with a multidisciplinary team comprised of employees, Delivery Partner, consultants/Technical Advisor, and contractors to deliver high-quality product and service, and oversees the day-to-day delivery of project team members involved in the coordination and administration of project elements.
- Coordinates a number of complex tasks under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments.
- Liaise with Subject matter Experts (SMEs), key stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery.
- Reviews and evaluates due diligence studies, reports, design proposals, construction estimates and contractual documents.
- Assist the Senior Project Manager and Manager in ensuring that the TA (Technical Advisor) / Dev.Co/Contractor and the Delivery Partner adhere to the Project Agreements through all stages and phases of the project.
What skills & qualifications do I need?
- Hold a degree in Architectural, Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated experience in project management in transit projects preferably within the public sector.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or partial completion is an asset
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of construction engineering, construction processes, and value engineering.
- Experience with any aspect of design, construction, and commissioning of multi-disciplinary transit projects, including underground stations, utility relocations, and Early Works is strongly desired,
- Knowledge of Collaborative project delivery models, Progressive Design Build (PDB), contracting methods and Project Agreements.
- Familiarity with Contract Law, Construction Liens Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental Assessment Act, and the Professional Engineers Act.
- Demonstrate interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills to present complex ideas with clarity and simplicity, fostering collaboration across all organizational levels and with specialists from various sectors.
- Possess a valid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s license to travel to various site locations, meetings, operational facilities, etc., meeting and maintaining the corporate standard for a good driving record.
- Knowledge of municipal, TTC, Metrolinx and other national rail and transit standards is an asset
- Strong problem solving and influencing skills to establish effective working relationships, negotiate, and deal with a variety of contacts, both internal and external to the organization; along with the ability to gain cooperation from individuals not under direct authority
