The research assistant will work on research projects related to access to justice, class actions, and Quebec civil law. The RA will provide assistance at all stages of these projects, including background research, project framing, literature review, and editing.The projects may include:Comparative work on recent and proposed reforms of class actions in various Canadian provinces. Exploring the idea of “person-centred access to justice” and its application in Quebec. Comparative research on the current state and fate of the civil jury in Canada. A project (in French) on the ‘disfiguration’ of the Civil Code of Québec through increasing recourse to regulations, in comparison with the approach of other civilian jurisdiction.Depending on the RA’s interest and the availability of funding, there may be an opportunity : (1) to increase the number of hours this summer (funding to be confirmed in early May); and (2) to extend the position into the 2024-2025 academic year (to be discussed).Jérémy Boulanger-Bonnelly recrute un·e (1) auxiliaire de recherche à temps partiel pour cet été.   • BCL/JD students from any year are encouraged to apply.
  • The student must be able to research legislation, doctrine and case law in Quebec civil law and Canadian common law, both in French and in English.
  • The student must be rigorous and meticulous.
  • The student must have strong writing and editing skills in English.
  • The student must be able to read and understand materials in both French and English.
  • An interest in comparative research is an asset.
