Job description: As the Senior Estimator you will be in charge of the preconstruction process along with deciding which projects to bid on. Will manage multiple tenders and responsible for all aspects of the estimating. Provide preconstruction services by preparing preliminary budgets, cost plans, and identifying value engineering opportunities.Senior Estimators Main Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Review drawings and specifications and identify the divisions of work.
  • Engage in project development activities, including defining and clarifying scope, preconstruction planning, and developing control estimates for delivery
  • Provide preconstruction services by preparing preliminary budgets, cost plans, and identifying value engineering opportunities.
  • Study plans and specifications clarifying location and document discrepancies
  • Oversee the preparation and execution of detailed quantity takeoff estimates, highlighting risks and opportunities.
  • Confirm if there is a site visit and arrange attendance.
  • Work with Subcontractors to understand their requirements
  • Negotiate and award contracts
  • Assist with Scheduling.

  • 8+ years of estimating experience in positions leading up to Senior Estimator role
  • Experience in institutional renovation and addition projects
  • Experience bidding on projects between $1M – $30M
  • Post-secondary diploma in a construction related discipline
  • Proven ability to prepare detailed cost estimates and preliminary budgets.
  • Experience conducting comprehensive quantity takeoff estimates while identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Ability to be client-facing and increase project pipeline
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead and work within a team

– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
– Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and financial planning software.

Expected salary: $130000 – 170000 per year
