Job description: A major construction Group with a presence across Canada is looking for their new Chief Estimator for their Excavation division in the Greater Toronto Area.Senior/Lead Estimator – ExcavationRole Responsibilities:

  • Perform full tender process from invitation to submission for a 100% self-performance excavating company
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and cost estimations
  • Review scope and complete bid forms
  • Conduct site visits and attend bid interviews
  • Communicate and negotiate with suppliers
  • Prepare RFIs (Request for Information) with clients
  • Maintain the tender tracker and track submissions
  • Follow up with clients throughout the bidding process
  • Review production with the operations team
  • Mentor and train junior team members
  • Present bid opportunities to management
  • Seek new excavation opportunities
  • Bring new clients and business to the company
  • Proactively seek out fresh avenues for excavation projects, utilising industry networks, market analysis, and strategic partnerships

  • 6+ years construction experience
  • 4+ years excavating focused estimating experience
  • Experience working for a specialist excavating subcontractor is highly preferred

  • Proficiency in analyzing blueprints and technical documents
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Experience with estimating software and tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating
  • Knowledge of construction industry regulations and standards
  • Relevant certification or degree in Construction Management or related field
