SGRT is a part of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) project and includes the removal of the steam generators at Unit 3 and 4 and the installation of replacement steam generators with related plant modifications. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064.In addition to the existing contracts for Unit 3 and Unit 4, SGRT has signed a long-term Preferred Supplier Agreement for steam generator replacements at the plant’s remaining units as part of the Bruce Major Component Replacement project.Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Project Control Specialist will be responsible in providing project control support to ongoing projects and supporting the company’s estimating and construction teams to ensure that the company’s project control system is properly implemented and utilized. The role will assume growing responsibility, with initial emphasis on cost analysis and forecasting.What You’ll Do Here

  • Overall responsibility for compliance of assigned projects with project controls standards, both from applicable contract documents and from Company’s project controls policies/guidelines
  • Create & maintain project status update reports, forecast reports & project dashboards; ensure timely issuance to internal & external stakeholders (per client requirements)
  • Create & maintain customized reports or dashboards to adapt to evolving risks & project needs
  • Develop and maintain resource plans, ensuring cost & schedule alignment
  • Develop and maintain a change log to track all internal & external changes and monitor progress through the change management process
  • Participate in proposal and estimating efforts to ensure continuity between project estimates and baselines
  • Produce or oversee production of a detailed, resource-loaded schedule in P6
  • Regularly conduct variance analysis to understand trends & other baseline deviations in support of rigorous change management; provide variance narratives & propose corrective actions or recovery plans
  • Prepare Earned Value Management KPIs to assess project performance
  • Liaise with external groups (Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Construction, etc.) to gain inputs into Project Controls reports
  • Assist in project set-up, converting bids into baseline budgets using the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (SAP, P6), reconciling gaps
  • Review and analyze the project control reports (i.e. progress and productivity) with the project control leads and project team and suggest corrective actions to maintain reasonable (around 1-PF) performance/productivity
  • Review and analyze the project scheduling and cost reports and suggest corrective actions to maintain the project within anticipated cost and schedule
  • Review the project contract to ensure compliance with contract conditions regarding reporting, change management, and all other Project Controls areas
  • Set up project accounting systems (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit)
  • Responsible to communicate, train and generally ensure full understanding by project staff of project controls processes and their applicable responsibilities
  • Provide input on an ongoing basis for improvements/modifications to company’s project controls policy & guidelines
  • Maintain continuous contact with company’s corporate project controls group through regular reporting and acceptance of input and directives
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring To The Team

  • 2-5 years of related experience
  • College and/or University degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, OR applicable work experience
  • Applied knowledge of the “Earned Value” principles
  • Applied knowledge of Project Management and Project Controls principles, including experience with concepts of PMBOK
  • Ability to produce read and manipulate schedules and scheduling curves/reports
  • Applied knowledge of cost engineering/cost control
  • Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and adaptive thinking skills

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Education to include technical college diploma, engineering degree or combination of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Project Coordinator role, preferably in the electrical/renewable energy sector.
  • Solid understanding of estimating, project forecasting and change management principals and processes.
  • Experience in planning, scheduling, resource balancing for a variety of sizes of projects.

  • Provide assurance that concrete production and delivery activities are performed in accordance with written and approved policy, standards, programs and applicable procedures.
  • Provide and ensure effectiveness of the liaison function between concrete supplier and construction teams in terms of information flow and problem resolution..
  • Forecast and tracks change orders and scope changes;
  • Coordinates all site procurement activities including validation of material specifications, preparation of purchase requisitions, materials material tracking and ensuring traceability of poured concrete.

Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.The Sr. Project Coordinator will report directly to the Construction Manager and will be responsible for the TBM functions and duties.What You’ll Do Here:

  • Prepare the works and coordinate temporary works design for all temporary structures linked to TBM assembly and launch (TBM shield cradle, TBM back up cradle, thrust frame, etc.)
  • Procure and plan the temporary works linked to the TBM assembly and launch (steel structures, etc.)
  • Coordinate procurement for the designated work area and relevant suppliers.
  • Coordinate construction elements for the designated work area.
  • Manage a team of shift engineers/coordinator on one single slurry boring machine (7m diameter)
  • Manage the short and long term construction planning for works under control including submittals, start-up planning and programming.
  • Review and approve Shift Production Reports using internal report software.
  • Measure materials usage and provide quantity information for preparation of material requisitions.
  • Review and approve tracking of Muck Haulage quantities and compare with TBM Scales Recordings for system calibration.
  • Assist the Construction Manager in preparing accurate monthly reports.
  • Develop and monitor KPI and productivity analysis against program and budget.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience working on a TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) project
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in delivery of working on, and delivery on, key infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with developing methodologies to ensure compliance with the scope of works and technical criteria.
  • Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning up to 12 weeks ahead, including weekly reporting on progress against plan and cost.
  • Experience developing SHEQ process and procedures and management of others in conducting SHEQ process and procedures.
  • Self-directed, motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Strong coordination and organization skills, with strict emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with all internal organization departments, alliance partners, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
