Emil Anderson Construction Selected to Design and Build Highway 1 Jumping Creek to MacDonald Snowshed Project
The Province of British Columbia has chosen Emil Anderson Construction as the preferred proponent for the Highway 1 Jumping Creek to MacDonald Snowshed project near Revelstoke, B.C. This project will enhance approximately 2.6 kilometers of Highway 1, extending from the recently completed Illecillewaet project to the Jack MacDonald Snowshed.
The key improvements to the highway will include expanding it to four lanes, installing a median, and adding roadside barriers for increased safety. Early construction activities are scheduled to begin in the fall, with major construction set to commence in spring 2025.
With a total estimated project budget of $245 million, the Province of British Columbia has allocated $200 million while the federal government will contribute the remaining funds through the New Building Canada Fund. The project aims to be completed by spring 2028, bringing enhanced connectivity and safety to the region.
