Your primary responsibilities include coordinating the planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluation of construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to schedule, specifications, and budgetary constraints. Emphasis is placed on working with the client to adapt to evolving policies and building out procedures to help the projects team in executing project work. This includes scope development, reporting/monitoring progress, planning/scheduling, and dealing with project changes across FMO facilities. Reporting directly into the Operations Manager, the Senior Project Manager/Project Team Lead will act as the main point of contact in support of projects or assignments including, but not limited to the following duties:
- Lead the development, implementation, and standardization of project management processes, procedures, and tools to ensure efficient execution of projects and all documentation
- Support the project management team with ongoing project work including providing guidance and coaching
- Plan to execute projects in accordance with Corporate Policy and client requirements
- Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships to enhance competitiveness in the industry and promote good customer relationships
- Track project status and provide updates to client designates during weekly/bi-weekly/monthly meetings
- Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules
- Participate in design review meetings, either as part of prospective project planning initiatives, or in support of projects assigned to delegates
- Track and report of billable hours (ensure salary recovery levels are adequate for staffing resources in place)
- Provide feedback to Operations Management team for resource planning and participate in hiring process
- Develop and implement quality control programs
- Ensure that required environmental, health and safety, security and quality assurance programs are implemented as per internal/client specific policies and local codes and regulations
- Manage project queues and ensure priority is applied and assigned/delegated to project management team
- Manage projects directly, where time permits and/or as needed
- Review unbilled/aging work order queues and ensure team members are effectively managing job closeout processes’ including reviewing the CMMS systems to ensure work order metrics are being satisfied
- Provide assistance with emerging critical responses, on an as needed basis
- Participate in strategic planning and scorecard reporting with internal/external stakeholders
- Perform site inspections in an effort to increase conformance to safe and best work practices
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex construction projects within schedule and budget constraints
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of professional
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to negotiate effectively and build strong client relationships.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools for planning, scheduling, and reporting. Familiarity with Procore is considered an asset
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 360 suite and PDF editing software
- Advanced analytical and time management skills
- Understanding of construction processes and standards, either through work experience or qualifications
- Understanding of change management processes
- Outstanding knowledge of building components, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
- Ability to read and comprehend design drawings, documents, and specifications
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Customer-centered approach with a focus on meeting and exceeding client expectations
- P. Eng or PMP designation are considered an asset
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- A university degree in engineering, a CET, college diploma in construction technology, or related education
- Experience in the construction industry may substitute for post-secondary education requirements
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 5–10 years of Project Management and/or Operations Management experience in the construction industry
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Able to travel within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Valid driver’s license.
- Security clearance requirements: must be able to get reliability or secret clearance
