Ermineskin Nation and TIU mark success of joint solar project in Alberta’s Gleichen

The Ermineskin Cree Nation and TIU Canada Ukraine Holdco Ltd. are celebrating the first-year anniversary of their partnership to build and operate the 13.3MW Gleichen Solar Project in southeastern Alberta. This project, owned 51% by the Ermineskin Nation through the Neyaskweyahk Group of Companies Inc., is located near the hamlet of Gleichen and is expected to be complete and online in early 2025 after construction began in June 2024.

TIU Canada, an international renewable power producer with projects in Canada, Poland, and Ukraine, will lead the project through construction and operations. Members of the NGCI will serve on the corporate board, provide strategic guidance and oversight, and build capacity in renewable execution.

This partnership highlights the commitment to sustainability and renewable energy, showcasing the collaboration between Indigenous communities and industry leaders. By working together, Ermineskin Nation and TIU Canada are paving the way for a greener future in Alberta and beyond.
