Title: Emergency Communication Center Telecommunicator
Location: Barrhead, AB
Job Description:
Our client is seeking a qualified Emergency Communication Center Telecommunicator to join their team in Barrhead, AB. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency requests for police, fire, and advanced life support services. In addition, the incumbent will maintain radio and telephone contact with patrol officers, field units, and other emergency services personnel in order to coordinate the response to calls for service.
Responsibilities:
– Receive and screen incoming telephone calls
– Determine the appropriate type and level of response necessary for calls
– Dispatch appropriate personnel and equipment to various incidents
– Monitor progress of field units and provide necessary support and information
– Maintain and update records and reports on all activities
– Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times
Qualifications:
– High school diploma or equivalent
– Previous experience in emergency dispatch or a related field is preferred
– Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
– Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure
– Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office
– Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
– Successful completion of a criminal background check
