Graduate of CFBC creates successful outdoor adventure company

The Construction Foundation of BC (CFBC) program graduate, Lacey, is a shining example of how education and training can lead to successful entrepreneurship. Through the Indigenous-led Sky Keepers program, Lacey gained valuable skills and certifications that have empowered her to pursue her dream of starting an outdoor adventure business in British Columbia’s North Thompson River Valley.

Lacey’s business, Countryside Adventures, is not just a physical location but a passion project that combines her love for the outdoors with her entrepreneurial spirit. By leveraging her drone training from the Sky Keepers program, Lacey plans to document outdoor events and provide services for various outdoor activities, showcasing the beauty of the North Thompson River Valley.

Despite the challenges of balancing training with personal responsibilities, Lacey persevered and graduated from the Sky Keepers program’s second cohort of students. She credits the support she received from the program for helping her navigate the entrepreneurship course and move closer to her business goals.

The success of the Sky Keepers program would not be possible without the support of DIGITAL, Canada’s global innovation cluster for digital technologies, and funding from the Government of Canada’s Skills for Success Program. This collaboration demonstrates the importance of investing in education and training programs that empower underrepresented groups to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams and contribute to the local economy.

Lacey’s story serves as a reminder of the power of education, training, and support in unlocking opportunities for success. As she continues to grow Countryside Adventures, her journey highlights the potential for individuals to make a positive impact in their communities through entrepreneurship and innovation.
