During the past month, two engineers from our Infrastructure Structures group in Calgary have resigned. This has triggered a need to hire to cover existing project assignments including West Calgary Ring Road, Waiparous Bridge for Alberta Transportation, Calgary Green Line Enabling Works, Pattullo pedestrian bridges, Tanco Mine Road Bridge, Confederation Line LRT, and others.Job Description:As a Senior Project Manager / Engineer – Bridges based in Calgary, Alberta you will be responsible for various technical leadership and project management duties on a variety of small to large-scale projects including public, high-profile projects. The role will be challenging, interesting, varied, and offer significant opportunities for skill set and career development. You will be required to work within a growing team environment carrying out feasibility, assessment, design, project engineering/management and construction support services on a large variety of bridge and other structural engineering assignments.As the successful candidate, you will:
- Planning, organizing, and working with technical groups in the delivery of project requirements.
- Design of bridges and facilities for public and private infrastructure including roadways, heavy rail, light rail, pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, foundations, and buildings.
- Involvement in project management of structural engineering projects.
- Ensure projects are well managed and controlled, and meet required performance, safety and business standards.
- Technical structural lead and engineer of record on bridge projects.
- Preparation of technical specifications and design reports.
- Preparation of construction cost estimates.
- Providing support to business development and strategic initiatives, including preparation of proposals.
- Developing new and maintaining existing client relationships.
- Mentoring and development of technical staff.
You bring to the role:
- Graduate from a recognized and accredited University in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures.
- P.Eng. registered in Alberta, or eligible for professional registration in Alberta with APEGA.
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience in structural engineering and design software.
- Experience with Alberta Transportation design standards and deliverables.
- Excellent communicator and skilled problem solver with a commitment to thrive in a proactive organization where client service is paramount.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are a necessity.
- Demonstrated ability to support and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Business development experience would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated interest in the development and maintenance of client relations.
- Ability to meet demanding schedules and adaptability to changing priorities is a valuable asset.
