Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials team in our Barrie Office.Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Project Technologist will conduct effective worker exposure and workplace monitoring, safety inspections and audits. You will assist in developing various types of hygiene, health and safety documentation, prepare technical reports and liaise with clients to ensure their needs and goals are met.A Day in the life of a Project Technologist at Pinchin:

  • Conduct site investigations – asbestos, mercury, PCBs, lead, mould, IAQ, industrial hygiene etc.
  • Occasionally assess building damages related to floods, water losses, fire and smoke
  • Collect and interpret various building material samples and air samples.
  • Collect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samples
  • Inspect abatement and restoration contractors undertaking asbestos, mould and other hazardous materials remediation work to document that the work has been properly completed
  • Coordinate and supervise sub-contractors during remediation
  • Interpret and analyze sample results in relation to legislative requirements and industry-accepted guidelines
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Manage time of projects effectively and efficiently
  • Liaise with clients and sub-contractors to ensure health, safety and hygiene needs are addressed and met
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships

What you bring to the Pinchin team:

  • College diploma in Environmental, Construction or Architectural Technology, or Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with building construction or maintenance is an asset
  • Experience with AutoCAD is an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Self-directed and mature
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Able to read technical specifications, drawings and reports
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and a personal vehicle required
  • Availability to travel to clients’ sites (short-term work-related travel)
