LNG Canada funds workforce development through BCCA

The British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) has recently announced a two-year extension to their collaboration with LNG Canada to deliver Trades Training Fund (TTF) and CONNECT workforce development programs. The TTF program offers training and support funds for apprentices in high-demand trades in northwestern British Columbia, while the CONNECT program matches local jobseekers with construction-related jobs in the region. Both programs have been renewed through March 31, 2026.

LNG Canada has invested over $3.3 million in joint workforce development initiatives with BCCA to support local, Indigenous, and equity-deserving groups in accessing opportunities both on the project and in the community. LNG Canada CEO Jason Klein expressed pride in continuing the partnership with BCCA and extending their commitment to workforce development initiatives aimed at building a skilled workforce for B.C. and serving the local labour market.

The TTF program covers communities along the Highway 16 corridor between Prince Rupert and Houston, including Kitimat.   • Assist in the facilitation of Company HSSE audit program; participating in and conducting audits to ensure adherence to HSSE policies, plans and procedures; implement and close out all audit actions.
  • Verify and consolidate all contractor and subcontractor HSSE reporting into the project HSSE reporting tools and reports
  • Capture HSSE lessons learned and conduct lessons learned workshops; present findings to project team including contractor and subcontractors.

RequirementsRequired Experience:

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health and Safety combined with Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or other applicable qualification/designation.
  • At least 10 years progressively senior experience in HSSE management in oil and gas and capital project construction.
  • Strong knowledge/experience in fabrication yard, field construction and commissioning of oil and gas facilities.
  • Familiar with current environmental, health and safety best practices related the oil and gas industry & OH&S legislation in Canada (BC preferred).
  • Experience and understanding of Owner HSSE roles, responsibilities and expectations and working with contractors in an EPC structure.
  • Superior leadership and excellent interpersonal and team building skills, including the abilities to provide meaningful mentorship and training and assist in the development of others.
  • Superior communication skills (written and verbal), both written and verbal with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, employees, and managers.
  • Ability to make objective decisions.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Knowledge and experience in compliance monitoring and system audits (ISO auditor preferred).
