Job Description
- Reports directly to the Director of Engineering and to the Assistant Director of Engineering
- All work related to the qualifications required for this position includes both the hotel and residence buildings.
- Must be available to work flexible hours and make scheduling changes according to the needs of the hotel.
- Must be able to work well in an unsupervised environment, and within a team.
- Must be familiar with WHIMIS regulations and adhere to the safety standards of the department.
- Ensuring adherence to all environmental practices within the Hotel and the Food & Beverage Department
- Repair cracks and holes
- Knowledge of mudding and taping.
- Mix paint to desired colour and texture.
- Apply paint, wallpaper and other materials and finishes to interior and/or exterior surfaces.
- Be able to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment, and actively participate in health and safety initiatives
- Adhere to all hotel environmental policies and initiatives
- Carry out any other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Alberta Painter and Decorator Journeyperson ticket required
- Red Seal Painter and Decorator ticket preferred.
- Journeyperson Painter qualifications preferred.
- Minimum of 6000 Hours
- Must be able to complete drywall repairs, mudding, painting, staining, and wallpaper and stipple work.
- Must have hand tool requirements as listed in the Letter of Agreement B Local 4325A
- Must have a valid class 5 Alberta Operators License
- Must be familiar with the ordering process of the paints
- Must be able to calculate the paint or wall paper required per job
- Self‑motivated, with the ability to make effective decisions
- Demonstrates initiative, and the ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain high service levels under pressure
- Physically fit to lift trays repeatedly, stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to consistently stand and walk through out shift
