Job description: Reporting to the Head of Electrification Solutions, you will be part of a team developing energy solutions for large business and institutional customers including electric vehicle charging, battery storage, solar PV and power generation. This role will be part of both early-stage projects for complex charging solutions, as well as the on-going design development of existing large-scale projects.The Electrification Solutions team is a pragmatic and dynamic team, that works to support early stage design development, proposal creation for new and existing clients, and develop electrification roadmaps to support large scale electrification efforts across industries. Our team is highly effective at working with clients to understand their needs, and translate that into actionable and deployable charging solutions. Currently, the electrification solutions team is expanding engineering capabilities, solution development tools, and most critically the accuracy and speed of proposals to new clients.RESPONSIBILITIES:The Estimator role is involved with both new opportunities, developing cost estimates based on conceptual designs developed in house, and existing projects, working to validate estimates for accuracy and completeness.Responsibilities include:Conduct thorough material quantity takeoffs for electrical systems, infrastructure components, and construction materialsDevelop cost estimates using AccuBid or other internal software.Research and evaluate current market prices for electrical equipment, construction materials, and labor. Maintain a database of these current market prices.Review quotes from contractors for completeness, errors, and accuracy.Assess construction and design risk, properly quantifying these risks in the form of costs within estimates created.Collaborate with various project teams to validate information accuracy.Understanding engineering drawings for the purpose of estimating construction and equipment costs.Create processes and tools to turn around internal concept designs into cost estimates for clients.Provide leveling sheets to compare cost estimatesKnowledge of industry pricing and market fluctuations to account for escalationKnowledge of ASCE guidelines for estimatingBuild a tracking tool to determine the level of accuracy of estimatesPrepare comprehensive cost reports and presentations for internal and client reviews.Continual improvement and validation of cost estimates against historical data to improve accuracy.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field.3+ years of experience in cost estimation within electrification or construction industries.Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid or Similar).Strong mathematical and analytical skills.Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.Knowledge of electrical systems, infrastructure design, and construction methodologies.While all qualified candidates are invited to apply, we particularly welcome applications from women, persons with disabilities, First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, members of visible minorities, and 2SLGBTQ+ persons.We thank all applicants for their interest, however only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
