At Rio Tinto, it begins with you.We are looking for a Carpenter to join the Site General Services team at the Iron Ore Company of Canada site in Labrador City, NL. The Carpenter will build and repair a vast array of structures made of wood, wood-substitutes and other materials, and ensure that maintenance activities are safely carried out to fixed plant, and associated assets, in a safe and efficient manner.The schedule of work is Monday to Thursday.This is a great opportunity for a driven and safety-oriented individual to contribute to the IOC maintenance team.In addition to paying competitively and providing great benefits packages, we want you to live the lifestyle that is right for you and your family. - Participating actively in company safety systems and initiatives
- Demonstrating a safe work record resulting from a proactive approach to safety
- Contributing to improvement ideas and solutions in the workplace
- Building foundations, installing floor beams, laying sub-flooring and installing walls and roofing systems.
- Fitting and installing trim, doors, stairs, moulding and hardware.
- Measuring, cutting and joining materials made of wood or wood substitutes.
- Painting & plastering, signage, winterization of buildings etc.
- Safely using tools and machinery to perform work

- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
- High school diploma or GED equivalent;
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license;
- Hold Journeyperson Carpentry certificate
- Experience in an industrial environment; previous mine maintenance experience consider an asset
- Self-starter, energetic, committed to achieving results
- Possess a highly flexible approach to work
- Team membership skills including the ability to work well in a team environment
