As a member of Water/wastewater team, you will perform site inspections for municipal infrastructure construction projects on behalf of our clients in the Toronto and GTA area.Responsibilities & QualificationsDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a Junior Site Inspector, your role will be to monitor, document, support material testing and ensure conformance of quality and quantity standards at a Junior level.
  • Daily presence on site for duration of construction works is required.
  • Assist the project Contract Administrator, Project Manager and Senior Inspector with various administrative duties, as required.
  • Assist with the preparation of detailed daily reports and record keeping.
  • Report on and aid the resolution of construction issues, as they arise.
  • Attend site meetings, take meeting notes, and assist in the preparation of site meeting minute reports.
  • Monitor Contract quantities and assist in the preparation of Change Directives and Change Orders.
  • Assist with responses to Contractor’s submittals, RFI’s and other clarifications.
  • Maintain regular communication with the project team, and clients regarding project status, site issues, project quality and resolutions, as required.
  • Collect as-constructed data.
  • Follow/champion construction safety procedures and policies in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Implement and monitor inspection procedures in accordance with professional, corporate and client requirements.
  • Inspection work inside confined spaces
  • Monitor contractor as-built records for accuracy and maintain an updated set of as-built drawings on site.
  • Oversee equipment start-up operations, testing, and commissioning.
  • Identify and manage deficiencies and warranty items. Maintain tracking log.

QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

  • Working knowledge of local, and provincial building codes, construction principles, industry standards, and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent
  • Registered or eligible for registration with PEO as an EIT, P.Eng. or OACETT as a CET or CTech would be an asset.
  • Duties would include site inspection for linear and vertical works for water, wastewater and storm sewer(s)/ management projects.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, project specifications and other contract documents.
  • MTO Class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing order and access to a personal vehicle.
  • First Aid Training, Confined Space Awareness/Entry, Working at Heights, OTM Book 7 etc., would be beneficial, however TYLIN will provide training, as required.
  • Survey knowledge using total station and handheld GPS devices.
  • Strong MS office knowledge.
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Must have the ability to work as part of a team of Site Inspectors, Contract Administrators, and Project Managers in an open and sharing environment.

  • Strong record keeping and problem-solving abilities.
