  • Contribute to delivering industry-leading Building Science Restoration services, including evaluation, design and tender, and construction review and contract administration services for restoration of a variety of building envelope assemblies, including walls, windows, roofing, waterproofing, and concrete structures.
  • Complete site visits to evaluate existing building envelope system performance and identify repair solutions.
  • Complete site visits for construction projects to ensure technical repair solutions are implemented in accordance with the project documents. Effectively communicate and collaborate with Owners and Contractors to meet project goals.
  • Coach/train junior staff and ensure that appropriate data collection is completed in order to effectively communicate project progress and technical information to senior technical staff.
  • Prepare client proposals, investigation reports and construction documents for building envelope evaluation and/or restoration projects. Ensure that draft documents (reports, specifications, letters etc.) are prepared to the level expected by senior technical project staff prior to submitting for review.
  • Manage and contribute to the preparation of condominium Reserve Fund Studies, allowing owners to plan for the repair and renewal of major building systems.
  • Understand and manage client expectations and direct WSP performance to meet or exceed them.
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities of those on the project team and ensure expectations are understood. Manage project resources (including personnel) and establish task schedules/ deliverables to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Communicate effectively with the team and collaborate with senior technical resources from across the country to ensure quality of deliverables and best-in-class service.
  • Manage project budgets by clearly communicate production budget and schedule expectations; monitor and manage budget, multiplier and schedule to meet targets. Financial project management includes processing P.O.s and invoices and managing Accounts Receivable within targets.
  • Maintain a consistent project workload and contribute to winning work to achieve annual revenue targets.
  • Lead meetings with clients and stakeholders to receive feedback, discuss revisions and enhance the trust relationship.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in technical evaluation, design and construction review of building envelope restoration solutions;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Building Science, Architectural Science, Diploma in Architectural / Engineering Technology or a construction-related discipline;
  • P.Eng. designation is an asset, but not a requirement;

  • Represent WSP from an HSEQ perspective in key client meetings and project pursuit meetings with senior Leaders, project managers and colleagues as required.

  • Sourcing and leadership of all the HSEQ Major Project HSE Support personnel (Site Health and Safety Officers, specialists, SMEs, managers etc.) and HSE Specialists (Subcontractor, Contract) and Coordinator/Analyst (Data and Administration – Project Support) to develop the competence through continuous learning (i.e., HSEQ Training), feedback on their performance, and coaching on areas to improve. Project resources will be hard line reporting to this role, while having day to day dotted line reporting to projects.
  • Set HSE Team’s (Specialist/Coordinator/Analyst/Major Project HSE Support) personal performance objectives both in line with their development needs and the objectives set by the HSEQ department.
  • Be responsible for aspects of people management including but not limited to: recruitment, compensation, succession, performance management, talent, and leadership development.
  • Ensure that while the key support provided by the HSEQ Team meets or exceeds the client or project needs, it is aligned with WSP HSEQ Management Systems (i.e. Policy, Programs, Procedures and Processes), WSP’s Project Delivery Lifecycle, Hierarchy of Controls (HoC), provincial regulatory requirements and HSEQ department objectives.
  • Ensure consistency of the HSEQ Team (Specialist/Coordinator/Analyst/Major Project HSE Support) and holds employees accountable to the HSEQ Management System.
  • Ensure project or client specific programs, systems or tools that are developed are appropriately controlled and documented to ensure they do not penetrate areas of the business that they are not relevant too and cause confusion between corporate programs and initiatives.
  • Visit the workplace and observe how the work is done, how risks are identified and mitigated through the HoC and verify with the workers that the means at their disposal are sufficient, adequate & effective.
  • Liaise with WSP’s internal clients of Major Project HSE Support to ensure smooth integration of their HSEQ risk prevention priorities and requirements and coordination of risk prevention measures between the external clients and WSP, including those for risks arising from the activities of the Clients’ own subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with the Director, HSEQ Expertise and ensure competent involvement of the Major Project HSEQ team in the investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action process for major projects events
  • Ensure project-based incident reporting programs are aligned and report in to the corporate Incident Management System.
