The Auto Body Paint Prepper is responsible for preparing vehicle surfaces for painting by performing such tasks as sanding, priming and masking.   • Read the paintwork order to identify all parts to be painted are accounted for.
  • Clean surfaces to be painted using a solvent to remove any dirt that may still be on the panel.
  • Sand vehicle surfaces using sandpaper by hand or using dustless sanders and other tools to create a smooth surface for painting.
  • Apply masking tape and paper to protect areas of the vehicle that will not be painted.
  • Mix primer according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Apply primer following manufacturer recommendations.
  • Maintain painting equipment & tools
  • Collaborate with the paint team to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality work.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Painter or Manager.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Auto Body Paint Prepper
  • Knowledge of different types of sanding and masking techniques.
  • Familiarity with automotive paints, primers and painting equipment.
  • Ability to work indecently and as a team player
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid Driver’s License
