You will work in a collaborative environment, and Corus Creative Services’ most complete in-house production center to develop exceptional creative assets for clients. This is a Group 4 position in current Collective Agreement and reports to the Manager of Creative Services BC.Corus Creative Services is an experienced team of Writers, Producers, Directors, Voice Artists, Editors, Graphic Artists, Design Editors, and Audio and Camera Videographers. We are experts in developing effective advertising and marketing campaigns across all platforms. We offer our clients a full-service production facility for the creation of multiple length television and radio commercials, corporate videos, public service announcements, promotion and contesting, image/brand campaigns, multi-platform on-line/videos, long format programming and more.You will contribute by:The following is an outline of some but not all of the primary functions and responsibilities for the position of EFP Camera / Audio:
- Operating camera, audio, or lighting gear for commercial and client productions as required.
- Keeping up to date with commercial and client filming methods and equipment.
- Ensuring all of the Creative Services production gear is in working order with regular professional maintenance, including but not limited to production gear and production vehicles.
- Assisting Manager of Creative Services with capital planning for production gear, ongoing maintenance of production kits and expendables.
- Working with Creative Services Manager and Supervisor in managing, operating, and maintaining Burnaby facility.
- Providing creative direction for color timing to post-production team.
- Finding solutions to technical or other practical problems.
- Multi-tasking in a live and fluid environment with skill in creative framing, following camera scripting and capturing unforeseen action.
- Exhibiting the interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization, within various departments and with clients.
- Actively participating in brainstorming visual direction with production team and director.
- Providing relevant visual references for lighting plots and shot lists as required.
- Determining equipment requirements and sourcing and prep of gear for the production.
- Performing camera/audio/lighting tests as required.
- Consulting with post-production team to ensure that production plan will cut together and technical aspects are considered.
- Willingness to be over prepared, practicing the camera moves required for pre-arranged shots.
- Being prepared to innovate and experiment with ideas and new equipment.
- Participating in or helping the Creative Services Manager / Supervisor when required in maintaining EFP Production calendar.
- Working in a high-pressure fast-paced environment, usually with tight and changing deadlines.
- Meeting all internal and external file requirements for broadcast and non-broadcast.
- Tracking and managing expenses.
- Being accountable for keeping to budgets.
- Traveling (including internationally) as needed, sometimes on short notice.
- Other duties as required.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in journalism, communications, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in commercial and client video production.
- Exceptional camera operating skills, proven understanding of audio recording methods, and a sophisticated understanding of lighting in commercial and client production settings.
- Solid understanding and vast experience with Canon C300 Mark III & II or similar.
- Knowledge of Windows, Outlook, Excel, and other programs and platforms.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds while bending, squatting, standing and moving.
- A solid understanding of video formats and resolutions (HD to 8K), color temperature, audio dynamics and microphone characteristics.
- Proven experience in client facing commercial productions.
- Proven client services communication skills.
- Proven experience in filming in studio, on-location and multi-locations.
- A solid understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud specifically Adobe Premiere Pro.
- A proven ability to conceptualize abstract concepts and marketing messages while guiding the visual storytelling process.
- The proven ability to meet concurrent and conflicting deadlines.
- The proven ability to adapt to and suggest solutions within uncertain shifting production parameters and client requirements.
- A team player with strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills both verbal and written, a positive can-do attitude, and a client service orientation.
- The ability to inspire and support fellow co-workers to own their work and deliver results.
- A motivation to go beyond, and willingness to continually learn, source and research new production gear, as well as production, and post-production methodologies.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts that may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Valid Passport required.
- Valid Driver’s License is required along with a clean driver’s abstract and access to a vehicle.
