This position is responsible for receiving, securing, distributing, and returning evidence submitted to the laboratory. This position assigns computerized bar-code labels to evidence logging the information into the Evidence Management System for tracking and auditing purposes ensuring the overall integrity is maintained. This position also requires research to determine which evidence/property items can be legally disposed of.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesHandling hazardous materials.Preserving and/or handling evidence.Conducting training/teaching.Working in a laboratory or law enforcement agency.Working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and/or Evidence Management System (EMS, and CCIS, DAVID, PowerPoint, and CJIS systems.Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.Ability to review and verify data for accuracy and completeness.Skill in communicating effectively, verbally and in writing.Ability to maintain records, organize files, and conduct inventories to ensure the availability of complete and accurate records.Ability to understand and apply applicable laws, rules, statues, policies and procedures.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.Ability to type letters, memoranda and other standard business forms in correct format using correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.Ability to work independently without constant direct supervision.Preferred QualificationsPreference will be given to applicants with the following:Experience providing customer service.Experience preparing written correspondence.Experience using Microsoft applications including Word and Excel.Experience verifying data for accuracy, compliance and completeness.Job Related RequirementsMust have a high school diploma or equivalent.Musts have a valid driver’s license.The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes.
