As a result our people get to work on some of the most exciting projects in the world.Job DescriptionWho are you?You are a Construction Cost Estimator with a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience looking for the next step in your career or are currently undertaking a similar role.As an Estimator, you will be involved in:
- Producing construction cost estimates for infrastructure construction projects from feasibility/concept design up to detailed design (pre-tender estimates).
- Providing costings of options as part of project Optioneering stages
- Providing cost reconciliation cost estimates including associated justification to be presented to project clients and key stakeholders.
- Participating in value engineering workshops to identify the cost savings and optimum solutions available for the client.
- May be required to participate in the development, validation, and control of the project Target Price within an Integrated Project Team
- May be required to participate in probabilistic risk assessment workshops to calculate contingency provisions e.g., Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA)
- May be required to provide client advice on capital and operational expenditure (OPEX) element of the project (e.g., operation and maintenance, life cycle cost, whole life costs, etc.)
- Supporting the interfacing with project clients, key stakeholders, contractors, and consultants (engineering, etc.) during all project stages.
- Work in close collaboration in high performing project teams to ensure expectations are managed adequately and clients’ goals are achieved.
QualificationsJob Requirements and Qualifications * Quantity Surveying / Civil Engineering / Construction Management Degree and/or Certification or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in cost estimating positions across pre-contract/post-contract phases of construction projects; experience in the infrastructure sector will be a bonus.
- Membership of professional organisations is a bonus (e.g., CIQS / RICS / AACE)
- Experienced in producing cost benchmark for validation and target-setting on construction projects not essential but a bonus.
- Knowledge and proficiency with estimating software used on major civil engineering projects.
- Able to manage multiple tasks with minimum supervision.
- Team player, willingness to learn and grow within Turner & Townsend
